Revolutionizing Showrooms: The Etap Light Pavilion

MMEK Experience's Award-Winning Design Transforms Lighting Showrooms

The Etap Light Pavilion, designed by MMEK Experience, is a groundbreaking experience center that redefines the concept of a showroom. This award-winning design combines space, interior, furniture, product presentation, media, and interaction to create an immersive environment that showcases Etap's lighting systems in a unique and engaging way.

The inspiration for the Etap Light Pavilion came from Etap's identity as a manufacturer of comprehensive lighting solutions where everything is interconnected. MMEK Experience translated this identity into an integral design that merges various elements to transform the showroom into an experiential environment. This approach reflects MMEK's focus on directing time, space, and media.

The unique properties of the design lie in its innovative use of space. The showroom is a large, bright area equipped with ribbon-shaped furniture that serves as tables, walls, and ceilings. This furniture divides the space into smaller areas, creating a series of sections for various types of product presentations. These sections are alternated with light and shadowed spaces that demonstrate the functionality of the light fixtures.

The realization of the design involved the development of custom elements specifically for this project. The ribbon shape, which serves as both furniture and space divider, is a structure that holds the fixtures, technology, and its own construction. Similarly, the large ceiling panels are a tailor-made system. All light systems and product presentations are easily accessible and can be changed at any given time.

The Etap Light Pavilion spans approximately 320 square meters and features a custom-made suspended ceiling built with 56 panels of 900 x 2700 mm. These panels have an integrated construction system and are easily changeable. The experience center contains 100 meters of ribbon-shaped furniture.

Interaction and the use of multimedia are key concepts in the design. Luminaires and technical components can be found on the demo tables and in the drawers, allowing visitors to see, feel, and experience exactly how the luminaires work. Multimedia screens provide further information and display images of striking projects. The design was released in 2014 in Malle, Belgium.

The Etap Light Pavilion was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, a testament to its innovative and trendsetting design. This design not only showcases Etap's high-end products but also creates a layered presentation in which atmosphere, media, and space play major roles alongside the products, giving every visitor the Etap experience.
